Former Head of Communications for Sailors’ Society joins Jersey Road PR as Account Development Director
Charis Gibson - an award-winning communicator with more than 20 years’ experience in journalism, PR and charity communications - joins agency Jersey Road PR as their new Account Development Director today, Wednesday 14 April. The agency, which started in 2010, works with Christian charities and organisations both nationally and internationally focusing on media relations, training and sharing their stories with the media, thought leaders and public.
Charis has held the head of communications roles for two Christian charities previously - one with the Evangelical Alliance UK and the second with international maritime charity Sailors’ Society - leading traditional and digital campaigns and securing significant national and global media coverage. She will join an existing team of eight to help build the agency’s portfolio further and strategically develop the work of existing clients.
Charis says, “It’s more important than ever now that Christian charities and organisations are speaking out in the media on behalf of the communities they serve, offering help and hope at this incredibly difficult time.
"I’m privileged to be joining an agency with such a strong history of success of making that happen and am very much looking forward to helping our clients tell their stories with clarity, creativity and confidence.”
Charis who is married with two boys and lives in Bournemouth, has also worked as a newspaper journalist and a PR consultant, helping organisations from the business, political and healthcare sectors find their voice in the media.
Jersey Road PR co-founder and Director Andi Russell says, “We are delighted that Charis is joining the team as she has a proven track record, is both creative and strategic and has a passion for the work we do, which is essential as we continue to develop and stretch ourselves as an agency and best serve our clients.
She continues, “We have grown quickly in the past few years and know that Charis’ expertise, contacts and experience will help continue that growth and really benefit those we work with, particularly as we navigate these uncertain and challenging times.”
